The calendar difference decomposes the span into years, months and days. Total days measures the whole elapsed span as day boundaries, so the two outputs describe the same interval in different ways.

Years, months and days

Complete calendar years are counted first, then complete months, then remaining days. Month lengths are respected instead of treating each month as a fixed duration.

Leap years add February 29, which can change total-day counts and calendar decomposition across February.

Month lengths

Months contain 28, 29, 30 or 31 days. When an intermediate month or year would create a nonexistent day, VETIKA clamps to the last valid day of that target month.

Why DST should not affect date-only calculations

Daylight saving time changes clock offsets, not the sequence of calendar dates. The pure calculation uses date components and a timezone-independent day number, so DST transitions do not add or remove a calendar day here.
